mu-Imagine and Karthala System join forces to accelerate innovation in multiphoton microscopy
published on 12.09.2025
As the microscopy-dedicated division of Imagine Optic, we are excited to announce that the company has acquired Karthala System, creators of the innovative acousto-optic two-photon microscope AODscope, designed for fast and precise neuronal imaging.

This integration brings together mu-Imagine’s expertise in adaptive optics and wavefront control with Karthala System’s know-how in high-speed acousto-optic two-photon imaging.
By combining these complementary technologies, we aim to accelerate development of next-generation multiphoton microscopy solutions for neuroscience and broader life sciences applications.

Fabrice Harms, Head of mu-Imagine, stated:
“The academic excellence surrounding us is an asset to becoming a key player in the field of multiphoton microscopy.”

He added:
“Both companies share a common approach in using and manipulating the phase of light to improve the performance of the most advanced microscopy systems. Numerous technological synergies are possible.”

Benjamin Mathieu, co-founder of Karthala System, commented:
“This [partnership] will allow the faster development of new functionalities in our systems and improve the customer experience at every level.”
